Depends how you're using your camera. If what you want is planned photos and printing, then yes. If you're only going to use your camera to take pictures of your friends at parties or whatever, and view them only on your PC, then no.
I have an A70 and for the most part, I keep mine on normal because I want to increase the picture number without having to buy a new card. On the PC, I dont see a huge difference, but in print I do.
If I see a photo opportunity I know I'm going to want to print (especially at 8x10), I'll turn it up to the max resolution, and superfine.
I can take a few hundred pictures in a couple hours if I'm out and about, so I keep mine at 1200 x 1600, normal, or fine.
It's just a personal preference (in my opinion).

Always shoot at highest resolution and minimum (superfine) compression. You never know when you'll snap that "special" picture that you'll want to print. Buy a spare CF card or two... they're really inexpensive. Also keep a spare set of batteries handy.

I agree, but I have to ask... where do you people buy your cards? I've read a few times on this board that people have said them to be "inexpensive". Well in Canada (Vancouver anyway) a 256 compact flash is about $125 (before taxes). That's NOT cheap, in my opinion...
About the batteries though... I can't stress enough how important it is to have the spares.

I don't know about Canada, but at buy.com and amazon.com you can buy 512 MB's for as cheap as $104. This one is $104 http://www.buy.com/retail/product.asp?sku=10326653&loc=101

256 MB for $125 may seem a bit pricey, but compaired to the many many rolls of film it replaces... It's not that bad. Its about 4 rolls of 36 exposure film on a 256 MB card, but you'll use it be able to use that one card for 100's and 1,000's of times. No more changing films (or cards) in the middle of a shoot. (Well maybe if you go over 150 shots...)
No matter what you pay, the cost over the life of the card is small.
I read that a small 2.5 Meg card many years ago was $400, so 256MB for 125 "is" cheap.

WOAH!!! WOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAHH!! Ummm... wow... I need to do some shopping around.
BTW... I'm in Canada, so $104USD is $145CAD. Still cheaper than the $250 they charge in the stores here for a 512 flash card.
