The first rule of voting. Please please please leave a comment when you vote. This contest really comes alive when people just drop in,say hi and perhaps tell us why they voted for a particular photo. It makes the contest more fun and gives really great feedback for the photographers.
Other stuff:
The poll will remain open for 7 days.
You can vote for three photos. Your vote will be public. Remember you need to vote for all 3 photos at the same time.
Please don't vote for your own photos!
As before there will 1st, 2nd and 3rd place positions.
No prizes, sorry
I will be announcing the names (aliases) of the people who win. Send me a PM if you don't want your name to be announced.View the photos here:

Pics 4 and 5 are not showing at the link - there are titles but no images. I don't think we should begin voting until all the photos are up - it's not fair on those 2 guys! :(

Sorry but it's not just that.
If I look at the html of the linked page (View, Source) there is no code to link to any image for numbers 4 or 5 unlike all the others. Have a look for yourself.

Yeah, it does produce some strange errors. I just checked and it's working now. Let me know if you still have any trouble.

This is weird. Pictures 4,5 and now 11 are still not showing for me. I see titles but no images and there is still no html in the code to cause the display of one. The others have code like this "<img src="http://thumbs.fotopic.net/441026000810.jpg (http://thumbs.fotopic.net/441026000810.jpg)" width=120 height=79 class="thumbs">" but 4, 5 and 11 don't. I've tried refreshing the page.
Is anyone else getting this?

I voted for #1 but meant to vote for #2 thinking I liked the color better. Then after looking at both again I decided I was right the first time. The wider crop in #1 tells the story better... showing the farmhouse. I hope it was a controlled burning exersize and not someone's loss.
#11 and #12 are both excellent photos that fit the 'Hard at Work' theme well.
PS All photos showing here.

I took the pictures you are commenting on and I'm sorry to say the house fire was not controlled, but was an accident. It was my wife's childhood home. I struggled with the decision to post or not, but in the end, I decided to post them. No one was injured/killed in the fire, only posessions lost :( . My wife even thought it was a good idea to share the pictures. I wasn't trying to offend anyone with these pictures. The family asked me to take the pictures. I thought it shows some of our bravest public servants at work. I hope it pays tribute to their hard work and dedication.

Oh, that's a shame. I've been through fires before and the feeling of helplessness is so overwhelming. You can see that in the firefighter on the right in the first photo. Glad no one was hurt.

Hi Mike

I complained to fotopic and very quickly they asked about Norton products on my computer. I have Norton Internet Security enabled all the time by default. If I temporarily disable it and refresh the fotopic page the missing images and the html code appear. Mysterious!
So..... now that I have seen ALL the images I voted for 1, 9 and 12. 1 and 12 because they fit the bill, 9 because it is such a fine competition and I suppose busking is work - probably for these guys anyway!

Apparently Norton interprets some of the images as banner ads and blocks them! Grrrr!

Yeah, and you can never remove the Norton/Symantec stuff either. I had to completely format and re-install the last machine I had it on, because the registry entries and hidden components stayed even after running the uninstall and following all program removal instructions.
I'll never put another Norton/Symantec software on a computer of mine.

There's only one winner here. Number 2 and 3 are excellent as well.

#1 all the way. If you only could have told the one fireman to stand still. So much emotion and a feeling of motion and futility. I can see the walls as they collapse. I'm so glad nobody was hurt.
