Lesser Black-backed Gull

These are fairly uncommon in our area and completely absent during the summer months. As far as I know it's the first time I've seen one (hard to tell with gulls!) First one is a crop, second is not.

Red spot on the lower bill and black legs are those the recognification factors. Great shots by the way, especially the one in flight.

Thanks for the comments! I'm sure you get a great variety of gulls over in CA. Dennis as well as awesome seabirds!
