A friend from work asked me to print a picture for them as I have a Canon i950 printer and the quality is always very good. The problem is that the skin tones come out with a very harsh pinkish red. The photo is not great but the skin tones are not that bad in the photo.
Here is the photo

I've tried changing the photo but the same problem persists. Anyone have any suggestions.
As a matter of interest, I have printed some shots that I have taken and the skin tones are bang on.

Sheldon, apparently some portion of your computer rig is not color calibrated. The major portions absolutely need to be. However, the minor portions really ought to be also.
For example, you can have perfect skin tones when printed on one paper, and then you shift to a different paper type and the red tone appears... or magenta... or something else.
So, the first thing is to find out all of the color calibration information you can about your entire system including papers.
Next, in many color printer drivers, you are given options on how you want the image to print. If everything were calibrated and perfect, then you choose "automatic" and away it goes. However, I noticed a color shift problem on one paper type, and then I read the fine print in the instruction sheet that came with the paper. It stated to apply +1 xxx magenta or +2 xxx cyan adjustment in the driver, just for when that paper is used. All those manual adjustments can be saved and instantly reused for that paper type in the future.
However, I don't own or use Canon printers. Ask me about Epson.
