Good day,

I've had just been playing around with a week old Canon 10D and have noticed something odd. When taking a photo against a black background, there is a blue speck on each of the photos, the same same exact area... here is an example, taken from a jpeg directly from the camera. Nothing at all has been done to the image save for cropping out the problem area.

Is this a problem with the sensor?

Thanks,
John.

Hi,

Could be a stuck pixel.
On longer exposures this can happen, on short exposures this should however NOT happen.

Please check for dust (although it doesnot look like it), and try to claim waranty.

Greetings,
Frank

I was experiencing the same problem before, I even had red color dots. I brought it down to canon and they fixed it for me under warranty.

If it's only a week old see if your dealer will exchange it. Otherwise it's a trip to Canon to have them remap your sensor. That's a hot pixel -- actually looks like several. But it's really hard to tell with that itty, bitty, teeny, tiny picture you posted.

I've contacted the retailer and they agreed to swap this camera with a new one. Thankfully. : ) Sent it out today, actually, and hope to have the replacement in by Friday... I'm already experiencing withdrawal. ;p

Thanks again,
John.
