Hi,

Because I want to experiment a bit with portraits and because I don't like the onboard flash with inhouse shots (to harsch) I would like to add a flash to my always growning bag :D.

What must I pay attention to, for example I'm offered a :
Canon Speedlite 380EX and a Luxon 132 AF-C.

The Luxon has a nice price of € 95,00.

Greetings,
Frank

There are many good flashes to choose from depending on how much money you want to spend. You can also go with studio strobes that mount on light stands. These are the most versatile, as you can use umbrellas, softboxes, barn doors, etc. They can be AC or battery operated. Which ever you choose(hot shoe or studio strobe), you need to get the flash off the camera, above and to the side of the subject. If you go with a (shoe mount) dedicated flash like a 420EX or 550EX get a flash bracket like the Strobframe Pro or Bogen Manfrotto 3429.
May I suggest that if you ever plan to do commercial events like weddings or parties and want a versatile flash that can be used with Canon or Nikon, etc., look at the Quantum Q Flash T2D. Quantum sells an E-TTL module that sits in the hot shoe while the flash is mounted to your bracket. The module also has a powerful infrared focus assist light. This flash uses an external battery pack so that the recycle time is virtually instantaneous.
