View Full Version : G2 is really bad at red-eye

I just had to say that I love my G2, but it's built-in flash is too good at producing red-eye. Guess I will end up with an external flash sooner than I thought.

There really wasn't any point to this post except to vent. Red-eye is the one gripe I have with the G2. Heck, my twenty year old P&S hardly ever had a red-eye shot.

G2 is not worse than any other compact cameras on this matter. The red eye is due to the fact that the Flash is close to the lens (all inbuilt flash are close to the lens in compact cameras by definition). There is no real way to solve this problem than using an external flash.
Sorry,

Yann

Hi Francis,

Here is a short tutorial describing a simple technique for removing the dreaded red eye from your photographs.

I've pretty much been using PaintShop Pro with the redeye removal. I can't decide if I like the way PaintShop Pro handles redeye or not. Guess I should decide soon because the demo is about to run out. ;-)

The site you mentioned has some pretty good info. I will have to try some of that when my demo runs out.

Thanks
