The road into Paria Valley is only 6 miles long, but full of colorful rock formations. There is an old townsite abandoned 100 years ago, and a restored movie set. However, the color is what interested me.

Thanks to all for such nice comments. We keep finding these special places, which is wonderful for us, but I wish more people could see them.

We passed though Kodachrome SP just briefly the other day, after a long day of touring. So, we didn't see it all, but got a glimpse of some of the big formations. We'll go back another time, I'm sure.

Great shots! That sure brings back memories. My buddy and I spent a couple of nites in the movie set saloon 30+ years ago. Some place I have some slides of the area. I should drag them out and scan them so I can reminisce.
Thanx For The Memories,

Thanx For The Memories,
The current movie set was built by Kanab citizens in 2000, after a flash flood destroyed the original set in 1998. So, you must have been in the original set, the one last used for movie-making in 1976 for The Outlaw Josey Wales, starring Clint Eastwood.

These are just wonderful in color and detail. I'm a sucker for polarizers - did you use one, or did the lens darken the skies enough like that by itself?

Thanks to all for looking. I did use a polarizer, almost always do. However, that day also had the richest blue sky. We kept commenting how blue it was. I actually desaturated some of these in the sky area, because it was too much.

Didn't see that movie, so never creepy in the valley. Thanks for looking and commenting.

Stan, still doing wonderful landscapes. I like your idea of desaturating the sky. I sometimes feel the polarizer over darkens it.

Thanks, Mark. I frequently forget to rotate the polarizer which gives erratic results. I'd take it off, but then I'd forget to use it when needed. Memory is the second thing to go.
