OK shooting my 1st wedding for a friend (not paid) and will use 2 bodies. Wedding outside. For 90% of the time I was thinking about putting the 70-200 2.8 IS on the 5D and the 17-40 L on the 20D for closer shots. Most shots will be from a medium distance. Out of my lenses in my sig what do you think of that plan? For any extra wide shots I can put the 17-40 on the 5D? Does this sound ok?

I'd probably put the 24-70 on the 20D instead of the 17-40 - but you'll know better what shooting distances you'll be dealing with.

I'd probably put the 17-40 on the 5D to take advantage of the full frame and get some good wide angle shots and put the 24-70 on the 20D. Only use the 70-200 for special shots, I think you'll notice that you'll use the two former lenses more.

I could do an entire wedding with a 24-70L. In fact, I have- more than once. On a 5D, I think it'd be just perfect. However, in your situation, I think I'd put the 24-70L on the 5D to make a nice wide lens that won't vignette much, if at all, and put the longer lens on the 20D for even more reach.

I would put the 24-70 on the 5D, and swap the 17-40 and 70-200 onto the 20D as you needed it. Don't forget to use fill flash for outside shots.

17-40 on the 20D will effectively give you 28-64 which you would have covered on the 5D in full frame and at higher resolution.
I would just use the 24-70 on the 5D and thw 70-200 on the 20D.
Put the 17-40 on the 5D only when you need the extra width.

Yea I really like the 24-70 on the 5D, for some reason during the ceremony I have in my head I'll be using the 70-200 more. I guess I'll try out a combo or 2 at rehearsal. I want to put my most used lens on the 5D of course :)

Fair point, I wasn't thinking about that! I agree with you then, 24-70 on 5D, wide on the 5D only if it's needed, and 70-200 on the 20D.

yea it makes it a little more math with the 2 differnt sensors. If they were both 20d's I'd put the 24-70 on one and the 70-200 on the other. I'll have the other lenses handy anyway though. Thanks guys.
Out of my gear list if distance to subject is not a problem what lens would be best for the bridal shot for a 16x20 photo. Of course I'll use the 5D. I was thinking 50 1.4? Or even the 24-70 since I have a super copy of it.

85 f1.8. Great flattering perspective, and a nice working distance on a 5D.

I have the same camera combo and use the 24-70 on the 5D and the 70-200 2.8 on the 20D.I also have a 10-22 and an 85 1.8 which I use on the 20D from time to time.
