Hi

I thought it was about time I stopped just reading and started posting. Here are some pictures from the morning stage at Wythop. An enjoyable morning with some good action. This was my 1st proper attempt at rally photography and I really enjoyed the challenge of trying to get different pictures. The cars are travelling a bit slower than my normal photography fodder but being so close to the action brought up a few new problems for me.I hope you enjoy and don't be too brutal with me.There are another 100+ pics up on my website.

Nice sharp shots, good colours and excellent panning. I really, really wish you hadn't seen the need to tilt them though. For me it absolutely ruins them.

I gotta disagree with Cadwell, the tilt adds a creative element to the shots. I find motorsport photography kinda dull after a while if I was going to limit myself to traditional straight shots I'd die from boredom!

Nice work anyway, would've liked to have gone up there to shoot, my girlfriend's from Cockermouth so board and lodgings would've worked out well for me!

I agree with Glenn, being a graphic designer too, I would rather have a straight shot and rotate it in quark than have a tilted shot with all the problems that have caused in the past when typesetting a page.

Apart from that, great shots.

I am also not liking the tiltedness

Got any straight ones? :D

Do you want a lend of my spirit level ? lol only joking.

Nice clean shots, but i think that tilting is ok in one or two of the shots, but not them all.

I hate to sound like an echo, but the tilt really has to go...

Apart from that, they're nice shots. Plenty of detail and not a spectator in sight, which is unusual :)

Another no-tilter. Nice shots though and interesting framing.

I tried both tilt and no tilt in my pics and I would prefer maybe a mixture of the two but you have to mix it up a little to keep it interesting. Just don't go over thar 45 degree line.

Love the shots. Nice and sharp.

Hi guys

Thanks for all the comments.I'm glad at least a couple of people like the tilt in the shots.I personally like the effect but I can see why it also irritates people at the same time.Next time I'll take a few more level ones.I agree it can look a bit too much to see all the pics with a tilt one after the other but I try and look at each pic as an individual. You have all definitely given me something to think about for next time.

Cheers
Gary

Tilted shots have the same effect on me as scraping nails on a blackboard. If my editors want to tilt, chop, or otherwise butcher my work in print, that's up to them (bless them), but they all start square and level from me.

Other than that, nice work.
