This guy showed up in the middle of a mixed flock of White-crowned and gold-crowned sparrows. I think he may be a warbler but not sure. I am in S. Calif., these pics were taken near the beach.

Thanks for the try, I don't think it is because the bill is the wrong color and shape.

I think it's neither (i could be wrong) because the chest has spots.
Nonetheless, these are BEAUTIFUL captures of the bird Paul. Nice job. I'm eager to know who he/she was too. :)

EDIT: My guide points me to Lincoln sparrow. What do u think?

LP I think you're right; just googled it, lots of variation in these guys. Haven't seen a post of yours in a while, they are always excellent:)

I had come to the same concluesion when I read the rest of the thread. I too, think it is a song sparrow. Nice job again Paul.
