Next Full Frame camera?

Any guesses (educated or otherwise) about when and how much the next full frame body will come out from Canon? I love my XT for it's compact size (and the sigma 10-20 is a great solution to the crop factor at the wide angle end), but the more I use it the more I realize there are times I wish I had a larger frame/viewfinder to work with.

Even if a new FF body is a pro oriented, expensive model, maybe it will drive the 5D prices down so I can pick one up used :)

The only possible full frame on the horizon IMHO is a 1DS MkII-N...
Same specs at the current 1DS.. just with the "N" feature upgrade.. (bigger LCD etc.)

Other than that, How many full frame Cameras are we expecting Canon to feild at once?

beachcamera says they will have it in 5 days (their web site says ships in 7 days). That makes it Tuesday next week. But others may have it sooner.

Hmm, I have been wondering the same thing. I was hoping it be an upgraded 5D rather than an upgraded 1D. I love my 20D, but sure would love to also own a FF body.

Yay. Everything is on the go! I heard Canon have booked those sky writing planes in NYC, Tokyo, and Rome.

Can any members in those cities go outside and watch the sky at about lunchtime please. If you know anyone in those places pls call them.

i know, but where did we come up with this lovely idea? any reason aside from pure hope? i too think/hope they'll come out with another full frame soon, but why does everyone think it'll be coming out soon? what have I not heard/what am I missing?

Based on some quick research and a bit of the usual source of inspiration for speculation 8)

I have come to the conclusion that Canon may be announcing a fast FPS camera soon, but not much more then a 5D sensor with a faster frame rate. Or could be 18MP. [this is AKA the 1DvRS? speculation]

I also speculate that the flagship replacement is still scheduled for pre-photokina 2006 and will be either 18 or 22MP with some method of getting to at least 8FPS. This is also the camera I am currently aiming for next. [this is AKA the 1DsMkIII speculation]

But my real question based on quick research is should I hold off an extra 2 years for the 1DMkIV which will have either an in camera HDR capability or multiple detectors per detector site (ala Fuji, Foveon, or something else - in either case higher dynamic range)?

I don't mind speculating on next camera but when they start getting two cameras ahead on the speculation from semi-reliabel sources (meaning the right more often then wrong) that can be tricky. Right now what I have is working real well, but I do want to eventually replace my 10D (as backup) with a second 1 series camera that meets my requirement for my next camera (nothing that exists yet, but real close).

I'm waiting untill Canon comes out with a full frame 34 megapixel 20 FPS with a 3.5" LCD that rotates. There, that'll give all of you something to look forward to for the next decade.
