Having read several reports on the D30 I get the impression it is a very good prosumer camera. It also falls within my budget. So what's the problem?
For me the D30 would be a lot better if it provided a higher resolution then the present 3.3 m and if it had a better auto focussing then the present 3 AF fields.
I'm sure Canon will produce a successor to the D30 that will meet my wishes. Does anyone have an idea (heard rumours) when to expect a D30 successor or upgrade?
Perhaps it's a little to soon after the launch of the 1D.

Word on the street is that an announcement will be made at PMA in February. Of course, an announce ment in 2/2002 will be followed by a product demo in 6-7/2002 with a release promise in 10/2002 which will be delayed a month of two. I wouldn't expect the ability to purchase a D30 successor until this time next year at the earliest.

Rumor has it that it's supposed to be a full-frame or near full-frame CMOS, 6MP or higher, built on the EOS3 or EOS1v body. Some people say that they tested a CMOS version of the 1D months prior to it's announcement which was full-frame and 6+MP.

I wouldn't wait if I were you. In fact, I didn't. I bought my D30 last week!
