I am excited to get this lens. First experience with it is it seems very heavy. I did some serious yard work yesterday and I'm tired but this shouldn't be a big factor for me. I think if I'm going to be out shooting sports I'll have to get a monopod. I went out side and took some pictures. They seem pretty good to me. I took some of my cat and some of a stop sign down the street. I was drifting all around trying to catch the stop sign so I settled for my cat.

Enjoy it! I sure like mine.

I've recently got it too, at first i thought i had a soft example but once i learnt how much more sensitive to shake longer lenses are i modified my technique and things improved, a monopod is a wise investment :)
Have fun and get loads more pics to share :D

Thanks everyone. I'm not sure about the macro part. This lens is going to be fun. I just need to start reading about monopods and getting a bigger bag for this lens. The cat is a little bit like a person. He sits up like a person and keeps a eye out for the kids. I have 3 girls and he sits by the back door to see inside. The first picture he was yawning and falling back. He does that when he gets bored and is tired of me.

Congrats on your new lens!:) I hope you enjoy it as much as those of us who do.:D I'm truly happy with mine. A monopod is definitely a must for action/sports shots. I got the Bogen 680B with the 488RC2...also bought the Bogen 3021B Pro tripod for when I need the extra support.

How much did you get it for? Looks like a refreshing alternative.
And that last cat pic is cool. Cats have some WEIRD poses.

Thanks. I used the B&H code psjan and it was 714.00. Yes the cat showed his enthusiasm for my new lens. I think he wanted a different brand cat food.

I need to post some pics from my lens.
I am just nervous since I am such a newbie, they won't look as good as everyone else's.

Just remember > be steady and keep a fast enough shutter to avoid blur.
