My coworker is due to have her baby in a couple months, so I offered to shoot some pix of the future mommy and daddy. Since my wife has aspirations of getting into the wedding business and is in the process of getting her portfolio together, she was in charge of this whole shoot. She is just beginning to work with more families and couples and can hopefully assist this summer with some photographers in the area. I think this is her 3rd time of actually shooting an engagement or family-type session ever, so she is very raw at this right now. I was there more for support and acting as a 2nd photographer. It was chilly and very windy (wild hair), plus trying to get some "prego" shots of her stomach at the same time, made it a bit more difficult. I think she did good, but wanted to hear from the experts here, so any type of critique would be beneficial. Ill have her read this thread later, since I know she wants input on how she is doing at this time. Thanks for listening.
Regards,
Greg

geester well you tell your wife that these are brilliant! She has nothing to worry about, the colours are perfect and nice and warm, and the poses are quite cute. I think it was a really gorgeous series and im sure the couple were happy!Love number 2&3 but unfortunately the hair is a problem in the 2nd, although with the wind not much you can do about it!The 3rd looks like a stock photo - she did really well!!!!
I like the firsrt one i think its cute and quirky and probably really shows off their personality, and the last one is a really nice shot, maybe a bit more darkened so it was just a silhouette with the sunset behind?
But she caught the sun at that really beautiful glowing moment through out the whole shoot. And with a glowing pregnancy i think it has made for a really fabulous shoot!
Del
PS: How did that poor pregnant lady get up to the lifeguard stand i don't see any stairs? hahaha!!!

Greg, I think your wife has a great eye and she should post herself on this forum, and not "speak through you". :D

Thanks....sounds positive so far
Del - haha. There was a ladder on the right hand side of the lifeguard station, so that saved her from climbing up the posts. Im not sure what a stock photo is, but it at least sounds good....please let me know when you get a second. There was no helping the wind that day as it was blowing real good, so she tried to angle it where it wouldnt have too much affect on the photo itself. For the silhouette, she liked the small detail on the subject, but we'll mess with it and see how it looks darkened.
Petra - Thanks. For whatever reason, she doesnt care for posting to boards too much.

Looks great!!!
Get that wife of your's her own log in! :)
Stock photo: Roughly put. They are photo's that are sold to agencies/companies that don't want to go through the trouble of setting up their own shoot, and would rather
just buy someone else's work.

#1 Clone out that ugly stick with cable around it for chrissake. Background houses maight use some bokehing.
#2 - Nice use of fill flash.
#3&4- I wonder how a horizontal framing would look??? Nice silhoutte(?).

I love your wifes ideas for mat shots. It is ver different from what we are used to. I love them. Very nice colour. Too bad the it was so windy. Hair in the face never looks good.

These are great ... great emotions and image quality. Nice work. Great use of rule-of-thirds.
