hello,
firsttimer. been reading the horror stories from those that listed the 10D as $1200 US and below.
so, anyone buy theirs that didnt get any hassle phone calls, emails, etc and didnt get screwed by the price?
anything outside kalifornia will do. thanks.
i also been doing the online price grabbing places and $1329 is the cheapest with free shipping and no tax.
thanks...

Safest? I went with RitzCamera.com (chain stores as well). It was $1499. Even though they have stores in CA, they picked up the sales tax. Shipping was free and quick.
No annoying calls or emails asking me to get "accessories" (like the charger, etc.) - when they say body only for say $1100, they really mean "body" only. Better be careful.
So for safety, I went with Ritz. If I have any trouble, and so far not (knock on wood) I wouldn't have any problems getting it resolved... I figured the peace of mind was worth a few extra bucks.

Be careful that the price includes USA warranty. A lot of the $1100.00 cameras are grey market. Otherwise major warranty hassles.
B&H Photo is realiable from N.Y.
Pictureline.com from Salt Lake City is used by the Pros.
I have heard that digibuy.com is OK also.

Stay away from Buydig.com.
I ordered a 10D with the 28-135 USM lens. They shipped the camera without the lens. When I called, they THEN told me the lens was backordered.
I cancelled my lens order and ordered it through B&H. Three weeks later, the lens shows up from Buydig. They were JERKS about returning it too!
Best of luck!

In fairness to Buydig.com; I have ordered from them twice and they delivered what I asked for in 3 days, with no problems.
One difference may be though that I used the phone to order and asked specifically, "you actually have it in stock at this time, right?"
Of course that was when I ordered my D60 (with two lenses) a year ago and a printer back in November, they may have gone down hill since then.
I just felt that they deserved an opinion on the other side since they did have what I wanted when no one else did.

I did order by phone, and said, "These items are in stock?" and the reply was "Yes...sure thing."

For lenses and other photography gear I usually shop with B and H. For camera bodies I always go to www.jandr.com. They have a hassle free 30 day return policy. I returned a Nikon D100 after Christmas with no problems.

If that had been the reply I had gotten, it would have triggered my shopping paranoia and I would have repeated "You actually have them physically on-hand not a drop ship or computer list"
I had to do this the first time I ordered ink and paper from "Thenerds.com" They had replied, "our computer shows it in stock", and I had replied "so does Amazon.com's computer and they run out sometimes before the computer catches up, do you actually have it in stock?". They said " let me check" (3 minutes past) "yes, yes we have it in stock" "Good send it to me".
No problem. of course I also learned Latin a long time ago Caveat Emptor.
All the above said, they probably have gone down hill, but if they have something, I would probably still give them ago since I treat all business that have treated me well in the past based on MY personal experience. it is only new businesses that I take other opinions on (and usually multiple ones at that).
BTW: I highly recommend B+H as that or my local camera stores is where I get all photo supplies except paper and ink for my printer
