Is there anything you can make short of this? It is huge reading.

I registrated at Instant Logic but when tried to upload photos it wanted to install special software or I won't be able to upload.

Well, I don't like installing "on demand" for a starter. I have no idea how big it is and what it actually doing, so I declined. I tried to get some info about this software and it turns out to be a 30 days trial.
Does that mean that after 30 days I'd have to buy that program or won't be able to upload ???

I like www.fototime.com
It used to be free but no longer. But it's been good & reliable for me.
Their FotoAlbum (free) software is pretty good for organizing photos and can work completely off-line.

Although fotopic says it has no intentions of doing anything like this,. and that the wording is to protect them from liability should someone run off and make money with your images,.. in essence it says that by posting images on fotopic,. they have the right to do what ever they want with your images.

I bet 10 to 1 all other gallery sites say the same thing to cover there @$$,.. but it is food for thought. Once I became aware of it ,. it did not change my opinion of the site and its free services.

... but I thought if I were to continue to recommend them,. that perhaps I should give those that I steer towards fotopic fair warning. :)

Hey, I read that (Fotopic) thing a few months ago and my recollection is that you retain full copyright to your photos. Their only use of the them is in connection with the site. For example, if you set up a public gallery your photos participate in popularity contests, and photos with the highest hit counts across the site are displayed somewhere. But you can also set up private galleries and even password protect it. These are excluded from the contests.

Sheri

Try going to
http://photo.instantlogic.com/?idContainer=idContainer

there is no need to download any software and they give you the space free in the hope that you buy other software.

As soon as you try to upload photos you get an install on demand box. If you agree it downloads and installs software and it's the only way you can upload. As far as I understand it's a 30 days trial program.

As I said in my previous post:
1. I don't like install on demand, you don't know the size, destination or anything about it and what it does with your system.
2. what happens after 30 days?

fotopic requires no software at all. You can use there web browser interface,. you can use your own FTP client if you are so inclined, or you can even E-mail your images to be posted.

The Browser interface is VERY easy to use...

As I said before you need to download NO sowtware and there is NO 30 day trial I have had it on my pc for over 3 months have paid nothing and have downloaded nothing. In fact just to prove it to myself I registered as a new user with a new email etc and I now have another 200mg of free space that I did not have to download any software for or have any 30 day trial.
