And so we`ve arrived at final part of this series , i know it might have been long and boring but i wanted to show you the beauty of the architecture of the ancient years..

And i will start with a picture that has been posted here before but alot of us i believe haven`t seen it,(i like this one).
If you are wondering if i could fix the lines of the image,i will tell you that i left it like it is because i kinda liked it the way it is.
After all, thats the beauty of a super wide angle lens.:D

The Parthenon

The statue of Emperor Hadrian in the ancien agora (market) of Athens.
I think that someone didn`t like his face...

Some smaller statues from inside the Akropolis museum

And some miniatures of how the front and back top of the Parthenon looked like before it was destroyed.

The front...

And finally a straight view of the Parthenon from the front , (yes i know about the verticals and horizontals...sorry but its an older picture,a scan from a slide film from the old days).

Dimitri, big thank for giving this exiting and entertaining history lesson. The pictures of the statues added nice flavor to the series.

I like the angle you took the Parthenon in the first shot Dimitri as it didn't show all of the scaffolding present in the last shot. :) Hopefully this might be gone by now if you are going back to Athens again.

Hopefully this might be gone by now if you are going back to Athens again. Well,i much dought it,its been there for years and years.
Its a heck lot of work to keep it going and preserving all these things,i remember the scaffolding being there since i was a kid.
Anything they repair has to be hand made and we are talking about alot of marbel...:lol:

That's a shame and the same situation situation as Rosslyn Chapel (http://www.rosslynchapel.org.uk/) which is just along the road from me and recently made famous by Dan Brown's Da Vinci Code. The chapel has a modern roof over the whole building so an exterior shot like that on the web page is no longer possible. :(

An excellent series, Dimitri, as always. Thanks for posting these, some I've seen and some I missed. Good to see the Parthenon without scaffolding.
