What do hummingbirds do after yet another night of rain, hail and storng winds?

Mrs. Hummer needs to preen herself. She did such a good job of protecting her chicks from the elements that she deserves a few moments to herself.

And for the chicks it is business as usual: grow, grow, grow:D

Very nice shots. It certainly is rare to see one sitting still, let alone in a nest. Well done.

Thanks, jump and Kev. I find that if you really watch hummingbirds for a while you suddenly see them sitting quite a bit. Can't blame them, flapping your wings at that rate has to be tiring :)

Thank you very much, Becca, Gary, Dan and Hatch. We had more hard rain last night, I just can't believe it. The mom must have some way of holding on to the nest. She acts as the lid and I would really like to know how she manages to stay on when the nest gets knocked around so violently :( Poor birds, but they made it again :)
