Seems like an eternity, but at last the speedway season is here again.
A few pics from the first meeting... and a couple of images from the press day a couple of days beforehand (the light was somewhat better ;) )
The two new lead riders romp to victory...

One of my favourite angles...

An early example of the 'holy grail' (all four riders in the same pic)...

The home riders leading out in formation...

Some speedway symmetry...

...and some seriously burning rubber...

A new angle on practice day (thanks to the stepladders)...

A more conventional shot (keeping an eye on the background)...

Another new angle with the 300mm...

...and another conventional one to finish...

I've been looking forward to these Gavin. Some great individual shots from the press day, but I prefer the racing shots for the stories that they tell.
Cheers,
Simon.
PS I didn't realise that the Peli case was big enough to fit step ladders in:lol: ;)

Crackin' shots as always GMEN...good to see you've not lost your touch through the chilly monthsCheers Stav_98! ;) I have to admit it took me until about Heat 10 (of 15) to get a decent image... I'd forgotten how much you have to work the angles to get more than one bike in the shots!

Can see a bit of high ISO work going on there in the first couple, but still awesome shots! I'd kill my own left nut twice (!) do shoot the stuff posted here. So cool 8)

I agree , you are the man !
when did they start putting the suppressors on the back:confused: no more rooster tails. They've had the supressors for a while now... but I have to say they're handy if you're shooting from the outside of the track looking in... keeps some of the shale off the camera!

I'm gonna hang on to my nuts ta very much... these are shot at jolly old ISO3200... but I prefer to work without flash if at all possible... the big bursts of bright light only serve to freeze the motion... OR you end up shooting a slightly lower shutter speed and 'achieving' a totally pants slow sync effect...
