Does anybody use them? How do they compare to say my EPSON PHOTO 785EPX inkjet or any photo inkjet for that matter. Their media seems extremely pricey especially since I can use ofoto.com for .49 per 4x6 print when ink jet isn't quite good enough.

Dye sub printers are cool but they have their drawbacks, can't print B&W very well at all (usually ends up black and purple), lots of waste, higher per print cost, limited paper sizes and finishes and the archival quality is questionable (depending on maker). Inkjet is much cheaper and far more flexible. Unless you are selling photos of kids on santa's lap at the mall or doing some other form of POS photography then stick with inkjet.

I use my Canon S900 for all my 5X7 and 8x10 prints but I use a Hi Touch 630PS for my 4 x 6 prints. Print cost is .40 but the quality is equal to that of a photo lab. I do not print black and white so that is not an issue but the cost per print is pretty close to the inkjet cost if you use the manufacturers ink. I use Inkjetgoodies ink for my Canon so the cost is probably less than the Hi Touch but the quality is better on the Hi Touch. If you need a dedicated 4x6 printer then check one out. They are pretty inexpensive.
You can send them a file and they will send you back a print so you can see the quality.

I was in the market for a printer, and looked at ink sublimation, but soon found out, that bubble jets are just as good and cheap to run.
I bought a i950 Canon, and the prints are out of this world.
Go no further than a i950
