Has anyone done any time lapse work. I have been requested to record the construction of the new Emergency Room addition at the hospital I work at. Other than just going out every day or so and snapping some shots and trying to keep the camera in the same place each time, has anyone done anything different?

Something I've been very interested in trying is getting a shot similar to this, but taking several shots like it in succession to get a motioned timelapse of the night.
(This is not my photo. Found it on google)

That's an interesting photo. Definitely draws your eye in.

For a traditional time lapse feel I would use a tripod:
Pick out a couple of spots to shoot the work from and mark them on the ground. Also remember the hight and angle for your tripod at each position.
Then take a pic each day or two from each spot.
Rinse and repeat.
When finished you should have a time lapse series from each section that will show the construction pretty well. You could easily make a fluid vid sequence from that setup since hopefully your pictures from each location should be at the almost exact spot.

Thanks for the reply! That helps alot. That's pretty much what I've been doing, but hoped I wasn't going the wrong direction.

No problem, sorry I diddn't see it sooner.
If you take two or thee spots, and set the camera up the same and take a frame a day or two (I assume the project is going to take a while, an emergency room addition sounds big, there is no reason that it shouldn't look good when you add them all together and play them for each spot.

Yeah, it's about a 15-16 month project. I've been sticking to 3 particular spots and then walking around the jobsite and photographing the other "little jobs" as they go. Kind of a funny story with this...I was given a supervisor's hat and told by the project manager to go wherever I wanted and no one should bother me. It's kinda interesting seeing the stares I get when i go out. I'm sure some of them think I'm from OSHA or something, but no one seems to want to come ask...
