Padge, Welcome to POTN. You can embed multiple images in a single posting.

Your first image is very soft as well as dark. The second has a lot of dead space ... is this intentional?

It is generally nice to know what equipment you shot with and a little more about the band and venue. Most of us Live Entertainment shooters tend to deal with people rather than just their images ... you will see that a lot of us know each other from commenting on POTN ... so help us understand the what, where, why, how and when of your images.

thanks.
this was shot w/ my digi rebel and most likely the stock lense.
with the 2nd shot, I was going for a little bit of the extra space to the left.

I was up on a catwalk type spot just above the stage, in a small venue.
I haven't shot much Life Entertainment, but I have been doing more.

and tip/tricks/suggestion would be a great help! thanks again.

Both are a bit dark, but I like the second one.

i like the second one. the negative space is perfect if you're going to use the photo for promotional use - postcards / posters / website / etc. - you can jsut drop in graphics and type right in. i love those kind of photos.

I agree - I like the 'dead space' - it turns it from an ordinary picture, into something more interesting from a design point of view - however - there is just a tad to much 'missing' in the shadows, not to be distracting... Nice pic overall and the colouring works because of the black.

Two minutes in photoshop (kind of hard with such a small pic but you get the idea). Changed gamma using levels, USM with large radius to add contrast, noise reduction, USM for sharpness. I also started to take a bit of red out the face but someone commented that they liked the colours so I left it alone.

I agree that the extra black space is great. This shot would be perfect for a tour poster etc..
