I'm new to photography (as an art). I would really love your criticism on some(or all) of these pieces.

Butterflies:

- Wings Outstretched (http://pixie.blackdaisies.com/pics/wings_outstretched.jpg)
(added a sharpen filter and adjusted contrast and levels to desaturate the green)

- A Different Green (http://pixie.blackdaisies.com/pics/a_different_green.jpg)
(slight cropping, I'm not sure about the composition of this piece -- i need a fresh eye ;), added a slight smart blur to remove noise in dark areas)

- Edge of a Wing (http://pixie.blackdaisies.com/pics/edge_of_a_wing.jpg)
(I cut the wing out onto a different layer, applied a sharp filter to that so it wouldn't create more noise in the background. I desaturated some of the greens and pumped up the blues a little)

Flowers:
(these haven't been cropped, and the only editting would have been to add a sharpen filter)

- summer petals (http://pixie.blackdaisies.com/pics/summer_petals.jpg)
- challenging the sun (http://pixie.blackdaisies.com/pics/challenging_the_sun.jpg)
- honeysuckles hiding (http://pixie.blackdaisies.com/pics/honeysuckles_hiding.jpg)
- to the touch (http://pixie.blackdaisies.com/pics/to_the_touch.jpg) (I'm not sure how the composition looks on that one)

These were taken with the Powershot A60 at the Niagara Falls Botanical Gardens and Butterfly Conservatory.

jinzou,

You did an outstanding job. I love all of your images, you don't seem new to the art of photography at all.

Welcome to the forum, with your talent you are in the right place.

Jinzou,

I am new to the technical side of photography and I struggle daily with my artistic side so please take this with that in mind...

I really like the pics. I viewed your website and followed links to deviant art and like those too. These pics are great, your other photos seem looser and more "artistic"...

Again, I am new but I definately envy your eye, please post more.

-Carlos

Hi!

Thank you very much for your nice words! :) I love colours, and the flowers were easy. Butterflies were hard ... wouldn't sit still and only a few came out well. I do mean it about the criticism thing though. I'd appreciate anything helpful anyone has to say.
