Anyone into digiscoping? I am wondering is it worth the money to invest in a scope or should I just rely on my 100-400?
I found an article about digiscoping but wondering will the scope take away some F-stops? Will clarity be a factor? If there is anyone that has advice before I spend $$$1000's please let me know.
Here is a link I found

NiL,
I couldn't let this go unanswered. The dSLR is not as suited to digiscoping as the Coolpix cameras. With an SLR, you use the telescope as a large lens. Although it is also possible to use a camera lens and an eyepiece and 'digiscope', vignetting is a serious problem. The small lenses on the Coolpix are a plus. If you can find an amateur astronomy group in your area, you'll meet folks who couple their SLR's to a telescope for astrophotography. Would give you a chance to see how it all works and decide if it's something you want to pursue. If you're a birder, digiscoping by means of a P&S with a small lens is a better option, and more affordable than the really long glass you'll need for the dSLR.

Thank you for your advice and input. Do you think the Canon G3 would work?
