Hello. Can anyone give me some advice on getting the LCD replaced or repaired?? I just bought the camrera in May, and I don't know when it happened, but there is a "crack" inside (horizontal) through the LCD. Bummer. It still takes pictures, but I can't see anything, and it does not respond to the control buttons. Should I send it to Cannon? or find a local shop to replace/repair it? as it is very unlikely to be covered on the 'warranty'? And if anyone has experience with this, (and I see it's been a topic before), how much did it cost???
Thanks for any and all help.
Sincerely,
tfb

It is likely that the camera got squished which broke the LCD cover, and possibly caused a cut in a circuit board, or damaged some buttons.
Is the LCD partially or entirely black? If not then the LCD glass is still intact.
This *might* be repairable locally, but your likely best to send it to Canon itself. Often what happens is a local shop will send it to Canon (particularly with new technology cameras), and charge you a fee on top of Canons cost. Takes longer and costs more...

I found my Canon S40 LCD broken this evening. I bought the camera about 9-10 months back and it was working fine till now. I still can take the pictures but cannot operate controls . There seems like a small crack on the top but the lcd is not completely blank.
Can I ask how much did it cost and where did you get it fixed from?
Thanks in advance.
