Im finding that my 10D is ready to shoot after 4-5 seconds after power on. This is with the 1 GB pretec CF card. If I dont put any card in the CF slot , the camera
starts in less than 2 seconds.

It would be helpfull to know what other users are
experencing regarding the 10D startup times and with what CF cards.

One thing I have noticed,. if you set the camera to the Adobe 1998 color space,. expect to wait a few more seconds :(

I think I'm turning into a cantankerous old curmudgeon. I read this post and I've seen plenty similar, and my reaction is "do these people leave their camera switched off until they want to take a shot?".

There is plenty of juice in the camera batteries. Change the power down time to 15 or 30 minutes, switch the camera on as you pick it up the first time. It will be ready to take a picture when you are.

OK cantanker over... :)

Roger_Cavanagh--resident cantankerous old curmudgeon :) --has a good point. The 10D has so much better battery life than my old Dimage 7i that I find myself just turning on the camera as soon as I take it out of the case and leaving it 10 minute shutdown mode. It's pretty much ready whenever I am.

How about with IBM 1GB Microdrive?
Anyone tested with that before? How's the performance?
