I've missed too many of these and I wasnt going to let this one escape. I'm afraid I gave it quite a hard time prodding it into submission but it scurried off when I had finished the shoot.

Wonderful shots Racketman- great colour and clarity- composition is good too :)
Looks like it's made of toffee :). Assume this is a centipede?

Excellent shot :D They move non stop and shooting them can be a pain :D I had one taken by reverse lens. :D:D:D

Yes this is a Centipede with 15 pairs of legs. Note the strong poison claws that wrap around the side of the flat head. these are used to hold and kill its prey. They are nimble hunters and tough to photograph as they never keep still.

In your part of the world they probably grow much larger and can inflict a painful bite but here they are quite harmless. Can you post your shot in this thread?

I think with these long-bodied critters you have to go in for a close up. trying to get the whole body in is going to mean no interesting detail unless it is curled up.
