View Full Version : A70 problems with XP

I just got the Canon PowerShot A70 for my birthday, but it's acting weird.

Making pictures ain't a problem, displaying them on TV isn't either, but when I connect it to my computer, it goes wrong. It is quite strange though, 'cause one time it works, but then I unplug it, and when I return half an hour later or so, and I reconnect it, XP displays that there is a USB-Device found, but not a camera or so... That is quite frustrating for me, 'cause I'm not feeling much for reinstalling all software over and over again everytime I want to check a picture.

What's up with that? My uncle's got a HP Digital Cam and XP doesn't have a problem whatsoever. It detects it automatically and I could browse trough all pics like nothing. This cam is three times as expensive and I'm having trouble like hell with it.

Anyone have a solution? Need more info, just ask ;-)

How are you disconnecting?

Here is what I do:

Plug the camera in while on or off.
When on, turn to replay mode if not already.

When done, turn OFF the camera before unplugging.

That is it.

I installed the software once and that is all. Never any problems with "NO CAMERA FOUND" other than when the camera was still off, or not in replay mode.

It sounds to me like you may have the Klez_H virus. To check, click Start, then Run, type in: services.msc then look through the list of services running and see if you have one that starts with the letters 'WINK'. If you do, then you have to remove the virus, then remove the cam from Device Manager, then turn the cam off, then back on to reinstall the driver.
