I'm looking for a basic, point-and-shoot camera, 3.0Mp or higher, that yields accurate color and quality shots.

Everybody seems to like the A70, but it seems like it has more features than I need. I shoot photos of the kids, so I don't have time to fuss with ISO, aperature, light settings, etc. I want to point, click, and get a good photo.

Would greatly appreciate your opinions if getting the A70 would be overkill, or if all of the bells and whistles will frustrate the wife.

THANKS!

The A70 rocks, whether you use the custom functions or not. You never know you may start to experiment at a later stage.

I'd have to say the A70 is a poor choice as a point and shoot camera, especially for indoor shots in lower light. I have found that unless you are willing to dig into the manual mode, shutter or aperature mode I am mostly disappointed with the results the A70 gives indoors. Many out of focus or soft images result. My Finepix 2600 in full auto mode walks all over the A70 in full auto mode indoors. I get consistent, in focus, great DOF shots with the Finepix vs the results with my A70.

If on the other hand you are willing to dig into the other modes and work around the limitations of the A70s auto mode you can get very decent results indoors at times, and of course overall it is very feature rich and has a lot of potential with its full auto mode.

In my opinion if you want a point and shoot camera that you will use indoors a lot, the Finepix 2600 (or newer 2650) would be a better choice. My two cents!
