I have my nature photos showing for the month of April at a small town coffee shop (that is very popular). I have my photos selected, framed and ready to go. My one question is:

Do I sell the photos off the wall with back-ups framed and ready to be put back up (or sell the framed extras) or...

Do I have them printed and framed as they are ordered? The turn around for the printing is about 3-4 days.

My one fear is that I might lose some orders if they have to wait or, if I order them in advance, I might not sell any and have spent extra $$ (though, I am in a juried art show at the end of April as well). Any advice given will be greatly aprecated

I would sell them right off the wall and have others ready to go up... not nessasarily the exact same ones, but others framed and ready to go

i would also consider having 4x6 prints made and then matted in 5x7 or 8x10 mattes and put back in the plastic sleaves and selling those at a much lower cost then the ones ont he walls...

if the coffee shop would allow you to have a basket on their counter or somewhere of these 5x7 matted 4x6's.. you could prob fit 25-50 in there w/out taking a lot of real estate away from them. say for example you have a piece on the wall and are selling it for $250... have at least one of those printed in 4x6 matted out to 5x7 (no frame) and sell it for $15 or $20. often times you will find that those people who are on the fence about buying a $250 piece of art will gobble up 2-3 smaller pieces at a lower price. you still get full price for the larger, framed pieces and you still get to sell some of your smaller works and help to get your name out htere

additionally say you only have 4-6 prints on the wall, very limited selection.. if you have a basket of 30 4x6's, thats 30 more pieces people may buy now

Thanks Mike Panic,

I was going to have on the main wall a 16x20 and 10-12 8x 10's and 4 5x7's in a hallway (all framed). I do like the idea of putting up less and having the basket of matted 5x7's. I'm not quite selling in the $250 range (16x20 for about $100, 8x10's for $40 and 5x7's for $25-all framed).
