There has been several discussions on memory cards and batteries in this forum. Do a search for them and read up.
Personally, I have the SanDisk card. No problems, but I saw that the SanDisk card is the slowest read/write on a review site somewhere (Sorry I don't know where it was, but you can find a link to it in one of the forums here.)
Most branded cards will work in your Canon camera with no problem.

Hello, MeGotsACanon
That CF card is made in Taiwan, by whom I don't know. It was initially released to the public in 2001. In January 2002 it costs $120 US. Probably much cheaper today, What kind of price did you cough up !.
Is the unit a "single level cell" or Multilevel. Former is faster but more expensive. (check for letters AA or MA on side of card). AA is single, but all CF cards not marked the same.
Would that same CF card be suitable for a Canon S50 ?

I just bought a 512MB Lexar at buy.com for $104. Works well and is faster than my Sansdisk... I really like SimpleTech cards but this Lexar is fine and CHEAP...

I just bought a PNY 256mb card at staples for $39 after store discount + rebate. I have no idea how long the item is on sale... since I bought it Tuesday I suspect it may last until at least Friday.
I have had a PNY 256 (in addition to the one I just bought) and a Sandisk 256 for several months, shooting a total of over 6000 photos, and I've had no problems at all with either of them.
PNY also has a lifetime warranty (I think one other company, Lexar maybe, does also)... most are one or five years. I've never had to return anything to them, but they are a fairly popular maker of memory products of all sort, it seems to me they'd have an interest in standing behind what they say & what they sell.

The first one i got for $150 Aus. then i went to go get more, and they told me that they couldn't afford to give it to me for that price again, they wouldn't be making any money off me, so they gave the next two for me for $160Aus, normally they sell then for $200Aus.
