I have two new Sandisk (blue color type) secure digital cards (from the same retailer) which are marked 1GB but act as 512MB cards in my Canon S2. (I bought these as 512MB cards on Ebay). Really curious as to why these are marked 1GB but act as a 512MB even after being formatted in the camera and as a test on my computer. I'm guessing that these are "mis-labelled " but don't know. Is there any way to get these to act as 1GB cards as marked?

What are the markings on the back? A picture would be best.
My suspicion is that they're fake cards, and may not be Sandisk at all - we had a case on here a while back which was about a card sold as Sandisk at the stickered size, which turned out to be smaller than the stickered size and not Sandisk at all. Pictures of my genuine Sandisk blue 1GB SD card and the fake can be found here (http://www.photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=129828).

Thanks. Looks like I have two fake cards (per your pictures).
Now to try and get some genuine Sandisk ones.

Got this from seller (unedited):
"I apoligize about the cards. I didn't realize when I had listed them that
I didn't have enough and I only had these ones left from a few
months ago. They came from a different company that I no longer deal with.
I should have just emailed you and explained the situation. I suppose I should have
used better judgement. At this time I do not have any cards but my next order
will be in on Monday. I can send you 2 new cards with the serial numbers
like the one in your picture however I do buy them bulk and I do say that in my add
they come with the card and in it's plastic container. If you would like to wait I can ship them for you
on Monday or Tuesday. If you do not want them I can issue you a full refund but I do ask for them to be
returned becasue I can use them for myself. I do also have 1 gb in stock with the serial numbers like your picture.
If you would like one of those I can send that to you to. Again I do apoligze for this and the inconvience.
Please let me know what you prefer.
Thank you Marita "

It sounds like the same seller as the previous case - read the entire thread with the pictures in it. I hope you can get it sorted.
