On page 158 of the S2 manual it requires that if mounting a tele-converter or wide-converter that the camera converter settings be set indicate the converter model being used. I didn't inadvertently (I forgot) and found no difference when using the tele-converter. What is this setting supposed to do anyway?

The only thing I've noticed with the teleconverter setting is it seems to activate the "potential for camera shake" warning sooner compared to normal. If it actually does something to the images, I haven't seen it. Maybe it cranks up the image stabilization or shades the auto settings a bit to help with focus or sharpness... but I haven't done any extensive comparisons of shots with and without the setting turned on.

BTW, on page 77 it just says that it "configures the camera for optimal performance." Whatever that entails.

I meant to add that bit from page 77 but the dog insisted she go out for a pee and I hit the send button at her insistence :-)

yea good topic, if your were to be using a non canon brand TC or WC would u still select the canon TC or WC in the menu? or do you just put it on and shoot?

I use a Raynox WAC and I still use the menu for the wide angle setting. Don't know if it makes any difference, but seemed like a good habit to get into.

I just received my Canon wide-angle adapter. I have tested several images, both with andwithout changing the settings in Menu. So far, I can't see any difference.

Here's a new question though. The adapter is pretty inexpensive. I haven't ordered the tele converter, but I will soon. I like the quick release of the bayonet adapter of the accessory adapter. I'm considering just ordering a second one and keeping the wide angle connected to one and the tele connected to the second. Any concerns? I hate anything that involves threads - already I've had challenges unscrewing the wide angle adapter - it likes to really snug up.

That's a good idea... some people do have several adaptors for various accessories such as lens hoods, filters, etc.

Now, if somebody made a lens cap that would connect on the bayonet mount, that would really be something. The cap that comes with the camera is little more than useless. It constantly falls off. Any suggestions on third party caps?
