Is there any way to lock up the mirror AND have it stay up until you manually bring it back. ie I have set up the camera on a tripod to photograph birds at a feeder only 3 or 4 meters away - using the infrared remote and continuous shooting. Everything works fine except the noise of the mirror scares the birds!

I read that in the manual BUT it seems that the mirror returns to the 'down' position right after the 1st shot, then you have to press the shutter release once to 'lock it up' again.
What I really want to do is just lock it up & have it stay up (hmmmm).
Am I interpreting the manual wrong?

Unfortunatly what you just described as happening is the only way mirror lock up works.
