Greetings,

I am pretty good at editing photos in Photoshop 7, however, I know nothing about Color Management.

A few questions:

1. I have my Canon 10D set to Adobe 1998. Should I use this setting? In Photoshop, under the color management settings, I also have selected Adobe 1998. Are these settings correct? (I’m using a G4 TiBook)
2. I notice that the color of the same photo in iPhoto looks very different in Photoshop. Why is this? Which one is the actual color in the file?
3. What settings should I use so that when I print photos, or when I send out for them, the color on my screen is the same as the print?

Thanks for any info!

Rob

Not a master in this area but it is best for all components to have the same color (ICC) profile in order to get the final print. Camera, Monitor, printer, scanner & adobe program should have the same color Management. I've played here and there with adobe and it does help complete the final print. Pick up a couple of adobe after market books & they usually have some info on how to get them set. Also check back issuses of PCphoto & February 2003 Shutterbug on PC setups.

I used to believe using Adobe RGB 1998 was going to give better results, but for an amateur user who uses an internet printing company (currently www.photobox.co.uk) I find they only print using sRGB, so all my Adobe RGB images require converting.

Also, you cannot simply display an Adobe RGB image correctly by opening the file in a file viewer, you need to use a colour-profile aware application (such as Photoshop).
