I just recieved a tripod (Dynatran CF994) from Amvona and inside the case came the tripod, strap and this funky looking contraption. I can't figure out what the heck it's for. Any ideas?? It's shaped like a triangular pocket, each corner has a metal hook, and attached to the hook is a rolled up velcro strip. Hopefully the pics make sense, it was hard to photograph. Sorry for the quality.

Maybe some kind of rain hood that attaches to the tripod and can be removed/pulled over easily.

Yeah rain hood.

I'd say a film changing bag but..this is 2006 :P

Also it could be a cover for the bottom of the tripod, depending on the tripod.

Stretch all legs wide open. Tie one velcro to each leg. Then see what it looks like. Could be something for reversed center column shooting for macro but prevent camera from falling.:p

Yah. Possibly a gear bag for under the tripod? Would also weight it down, maybe?

Well it is a CF model so good thought about weighing it down. I know it is just a tripod but it did strike me as odd that they don't come w/ any instructions.:confused:

I vote for a tripod jock-strap!

Or a gear/weight bag.

It is indeed a weight bag! Because its a light tripod it's included if you want to add weight to help add stabilization. I finally got a difinitive answer from amvona today, they also needed pics to figure it out!

Glad you found the answer. To add weight, i normally put some pebbles in a plastic bag and hook it at the bottom of the center column. But i would use a weight bag if Amvona is willing to ship me one. :D

A lighter tripod is cool, but if you have to carry some ballast weight, doesn't it cancels the lightweight? :lol:

It's actually a good idea... Lowest center of gravity you can get.
