Greetings. I am (I hope) soon to be an owner of the D30 but I have a question. I have read that it can take 8 pictures at 3/sec (more or less). But how well can it handle something like a wedding procession. At the last wedding I went to my current camera (Kodak DC290) took the first 2 couple in the line and then I could not get the rest.

Gary,

You will find that the frame capacity depends on the quality of the picture you are taking. You do get the the 3fps, but the 8 frames refers to shooting high quality JPEG's. If you shoot raw format (highest quality), you won't get so many. You do need to set the camera up correctly (continuous drive) and remember to keep the shutter button half-pressed.

I've never tried to shoot a wedding procession, but this is the best sequence I've shot (using raw format):

I just looked at the EXIF data. This sequence lasted 8 secs and I recall I had to wait about 30 secs before I could shoot again. So, on the assumption that wedding processions don't move as fast as falling lumps of ice, you ought to do pretty well with the D30. :)

If you hold the shutter button halfway down in between shots (on multiple shot mode), you can press it again sooner - it stays in shooting priority mode, so you only need to wait till there is room for one more picture. If you let it up all the way, it gives priority to writing out the buffer and you can't start again until it is completely clear.
