Visiting Melbourne this week and attempted my first night-time images with the new 350D.

First two are with the kit lens, last one is with a 70-300 IS; all using a monopod (first time using the monopod). All photos from camera with no PP, just resizing. Still learning tools to adjust and clean up RAW files.

None are super-sharp, but I was happy with my very first tries at this...

Very good start for night shots, Brad! With some sharpening they certainly will look more 'popping out'. You might also consider to use some noise removal program to get rid of some color noise typical for long exposures.

Mate, nice shots. Get a tripod for sharp images, you wont be sorry.

Very good for your first night shots. JFK's right, get a tripod and they should be very sharp.

ah, I might live here but Melbourne is my favourite city in Australia, love the colours you've shown.
