This was taken today with my Canon 300D, Tamron AF28-300mm Aspherical Macro Lens. This was a job cuz he wouldn't hold still very long & it's the first insect photograph I have ever tried. I hope you like it.

Hi Bo,

Very beautiful pipevine. However, I think the crop is a little too heavy. That causes very noisy picture and thus lost of detail. To fill the frame, you can move closer to the subject. I know it's hard but the 300mm lens should allow to you take its picture without spooking it. ;) I've tried that many times and have great success.

The second one works for me. I find the flowers add to the shot and the image is sharper than the first.

Thanks Gary. I think I'm really starting to get the hang of this digital stuff!;)

Bo.#2 is way better. Normally it's good to fill the frame with the subject but achieving it thru heavy cropping is not a good way. Further, the environment often adds to the picture too. Your original picture is a good example. ;)
