Hi everybody. This is my first time logged on to this forum. I have been photographing as a happy amateur using various kinds of equipment most of my life. Inspired by my colleague i did buy a Canon G3 a few months ago - and I do not regret! It's a superb camera!

Below is one of my favourite shots during this summer. Canon PowerShot G3, F=4.0, 1/1244 s, manual exposure setting, manual focus, freehand. Shot in Hanko, Finland in July 2003. Original photo 2272x1704 pixel, this one is slightly cropped, resized and unsharp mask added.

Good, but put the rose a little more out of the middle..

Nice Macro, it looks a little dark though.

I brightened it up a bit in photoshop, I hope you don't mind. You can find it here:

Tell me what you think, I am new also so please take that in to consideration also.

Thanks for the comments.

Maybe I should have shot it with the rose more to the side. The original version actually had a little more border to the right, but in my eyes it just looked too heavy with that much dark background, so I cropped it to get the rose in the middle...

To me the photoshopped version looks too light - the leaves in the background become too bright green. I wanted to make a dark background to get the rose stand out...
