The "lens cap" that comes with the 400 f/4 DO only works when the hood is attached. The lens as shipped is missing a push on lens cap that will fit the lens itself. The size looks to be about 120mm. Anybody know what lens cap would fit this lens and where to get it? I think the lens is the same size as the 300mm f/2.8.
You would think for $6000 Canon would include a lens cap!

After some research, I have found a 120mm lens cap that works very well on the 400mm f/4 DO. It's B&H# SCLC120, a Schneider cap. B&H also sells another 120mm cap, B&H# KALC120, which is a bit cheaper but is a little too tight a fit. I have tried both.
This cap should also fit the 300mm f/2.8.

mporter,
Do you actually own the 400/DO, or are you in the research phase of your purchase? I'd be interested in seeing some photos and hearing your opinion of the lens if you have it already.

A few days ago, out of interest, I checked to see what the oldest surviving thread in this section was. It was this, lurking right at the end of the last page.
Let's just say I wasn't expecting to see it on the front page! :O
