I started out reading the EOS and Compact threads (Equipment), now I find myself more in Macro, People, General Chat, etc... (Social and Photo threads)
Does this happen to everyone just starting out? I was really into the equipment, now I'm more into the actual photography. I think it's a change for the good, but I'd like to say that the catalyst for that change are the people in these forums! Thank you! :-)

I think it's fairly typical. Personally I get teased because EVERTHING appeals to me. From the technical aspects of what makes a good photo, to the composition's themselves... and don't get me started on compositions.. One day i'll find myself taking pictures of flowers, the next it's graveyards, the next it's portraits and then still-life and then i'll get on a kick where I want to do landscapes.... All part of the process I think, and it really is a great way to challenge yourself and be creative...

I think this is why its always a good idea to start of with the minimum of lenses so you can actually find out what your actual interest are. Flowers don't do it for me, macro only interests me slightly, and not enough to make me buy a macro lens. Wildlife photography is not one of my interests
It's people that interest me most, and that's where i'd like to to think my strengths are.
What made me buy my gear was looking at the photos and in to the history of those i admire and seeing that they all used primes. Those are the tools i use now, and that's all i see them as, and i really should take better care of them, but i've never been precious about material things.

I have been all over the forum, originally I came for the equipment, now I am also here for the pics and social interaction. I do still visit the equipment forums and actually today started a thread for a new camera.
I also find myself spending more time in the PP area of the forum and the critique section.
