Wow! This is a very cool shot! I really love how the cardinal is in the middle of all green things, it really allows the birds color to stand out! Great shot!

Great catch, it is a problem that we all have, now that the leaves are coming back to the trees, it becomes more difficult.

I think this is the sweet spot time just before the leaves. I tried shooting these since January and they were very shy...I swear one shot of one nested in a brambles bush looked like it was molting. I think the mating season and the burgeoning folliage is giving them confidence...then again maybe the 100-400 and some confidence of my own helps too! Thanks for the kind words.

Hi,
even though he is small in the frame he seems sharp, red is a hard color to get right on Birds, you seem to have done a good job. Did he sing for you?

Oh, he was singing...that single clear chirp......chirp.....Chirp, but he was calling his lady love (s). Thanks much Clare. I think the props on the color goes to the good lenses. I am amazed how sharp the colors are with the Canon lenses.
