I searched this forum without success, so forgive me if this is an old topic.
Will some of you advanced G3 users post your custom settings? I would like to set my camera up to handle certain situations & would enjoy hearing your input regarding your successes at making the G3 an efficient tool. I would ultimately like to see some suggested custom settings for a list of shooting environments or assignments. This would make a dandy quick reference guide. For me anyway. Any interest in this out there?

regards
kev

Here are mine:

C1 - "Landscape Settings" Manual focus on infinity, AV mode set at f4.5, ISO 50, max res JPG, flash off

C2 - "Night Shot Settings" Manual focus on infinity, manual mode settings of 1/2 second and f4.5, max res JPG, flash off

These settings allow a good starting point that I can fine-tune later if I need to.

Thanks Pedro and Scott, I have printed both of your settings.

I should just like to know if they differ very much from the mode settings Landscape and Night.

I use the following, which I gleaned from a tip on this very forum months ago. It's a good "quick shot point and shoot" mode, but doesn't work well when zooming in.

AV mode
Manual Focus between 5 and 10
f4.5
ISO 50
Flash on
Flash at -2/3 (not sure why, I must have a reason (= ).

I use the other custom slot for specific instances, for example at a concert where I'm in a seat, or with bracketing on.

ScrO!

My settings are different from the landscape and night modes because:

1. They allow you to control the ISO (landscape mode is "auto-ISO").

2. The Night mode fires the flash when you press the shutter. My C2 is more for landscape night shots with no flash.

Scott,

Have you ever used ISO 100 or larger for landscape night shots, any problem with noice?

No, I haven't. In fact, the only time I ever used anything other than ISO 50 was just this past week, for my bug macros (they are at ISO 100).

My custom settings are as follows:

C1 - Normal, everyday pictures.
Program AE based.
ISO 50
No Flash
Large-Superfine JPEG
Auto WB
Full Wide (no zoom)
Single AF mode
Custom Effect (I upped the sharpness and color)
HS Multishot

C2 - Astrophotography/night shots.
Manual Program based
Shutter - 1"
Aperture - 3.0
Full Zoom - based on being hooked up to Telescope
Manual Focus at Infinity
RAW image mode
No Effect
ISO 50
Auto WB

I am sure I am forgetting something on these, but it shows the major settings involved.
