I spent a few days in Basel (Switzerland) a few weeks ago during their Fasnacht festival.

It's an interesting event - it starts at 4am on Monday, and runs through to 4am on Thursday, and during this time the various different groups (cliques) parade around the town in costume, with their floats and lanterns, and playing music on piccolo, drums and brass instruments.

The Tuesday is focused on the children, so there were lots of kids dressed up as animals being towed around in little trollies by their parents, which made for some nice photo opportunities.

Some of the participants hand out gifts like sweets, fruit and flowers, however others throw coloured confetti over you instead!

It's the first time I've really done any people/street photography so would apprecatiate any comments.

Sounds like an fun time filled with photographic opportunities which you have taken full advantage of. My favourite shot is the one with the little tiger boy. All the shots are very vibrant and full of colour. You might want to compose some shots with a little more of the background included- keeping the main subject in focus. This might give a better feel for the festival atmosphere. Great shots, keep them coming.
