Okay I have set off on my flight off to the Canon Powershot G2 dream. I paid the $799.00 as suggested from a PhotoAlley.com. Now I know I am getting what I paid for. Next how to save even more.

I want to price match using my American Express Blue Best Buy plan and if anyone knows an Internet site or magazine or any print ad that I can get my hands on to make copy of with a price below $599.00 please post it here.

I can receive up to $250.00 back from Amex and I want the full amount if possible. Any help would be most appreciated and thanks ahead of time.

BTW, I also ordered a 1GB IBM Microdrive from Googlegear for $271 and some change. The lowest price I could find on the net. I think you see what I am trying to do. Get the 1GB IBM Microdrive and the camera for about what many retailers are asking for just the camera alone.

Okay so nobody helped me yet with saving more money. That's okay because I found the ad that does the trick.

See page 103 of Shutterbug magazine January 2002 issue. Price for G2 listed in A&M's ad is $549.99. Now I can send a copy of that to American Express and get $250.00 back from my original purchase price from Photoalley.com (an MSN enabled store) which means I end up paying about that amount, $550.00 for my Canon Powershot G2. Ad to that my IBM 1 GB Microdrive from Googlegear.com plus shipping about $299.00. Total damages $889.00. Still less than the retail asking price of $899.00.

Thanks to everyone here who's suggestions and ideas helped me save a bundle !

If this is the first time you've read about this then here is the skinny.
Get an American Express Blue card.
Buy the G2 at Photoalley.com for $799.99 because at the time I bought it they had $100.00 off retail. Then use an ad dated AFTER your purchase within 60 days of the purchase and American Express Blue will refund you up to $250.00. Again, thanks to all who helped me. My Canon Powershot G2 has allowed me to take some great pictures and given me back my love for shooting.

It was Shutterbug I read on another posting here. The company is not a company you want to purchase from. They are a New York based company and you just don't really know what it is you are getting. I believe the price they are asking is because it is a "grey model" Canon Powershot G2. That means that you have NO WARRANTY ! Stay away from those characters ! They are not trustworthy. Just apply for an American Express Blue card and tell them you only need $1000 limit. That should cover you for the purchase of the G2 at $799 then see the ad A&M has for $549 and get the full $250 back. I would avoid buying from A&M too. They too I believe are another of those New York based companies. Good luck !
