I have a Canon G1, Photoshop 7 and Canon i950 printer.

I am not a professional as you will quickly tell, and I need to know if I should start taking my photos with the raw setting.

I have been saving everything to JPEG and I read where that is not good. I also want to start backing up all my pictures on CD.

My question that I need to know right now (because I'm getting ready to buy it) is....This morning I downloaded the Ignore EXIF Colour Space plug-in.

Now, I see that Adobe has a Photoshop Camera Raw and JPEG2000.

I want to download the Camera Raw and JPEG 2000 but should I delete the Ignore EXIF Colour Space first?!?!

Am I doing the right thing by going RAW?

Thank you for any suggestions!

Don't spend the $100.00 on the Raw plugin.

Use the Canon software to convert for now,. and then wait a month for Photoshop 8 which will have the RAW support built in.

In the meantime of you want to avoid convdrting to jpeg and the resulting compression,. you can convert to tiff.

Also you may want look at "breeezebrowser" as either a stop gap to he raw plugin,. or a replacement altogether for the Canon software,...

Thanks for you quick reply.

I didn't know that Photoshop 8 will be out in a month...just in time for Christmas!

Do you feel that BreezeBrowser is better than Canon's Zoombrowser?

A lot of people like Breezebrowser,.. and yes it is better than Canons Zoom Browesr,. it has more options and tools and is a bit easier to work with.

But,. it may not be a neccesary tool if you are going to get PS8 in the future,.

...the good part is you can allways download it and try it out, and I think it only costs like $45.00 to register. :)
