I was wondering what happened with that crab spider, it seemed to get smaller and smaller, and all of a sudden something white appeared.

Before shedding the spider had 7 legs, and after it had 8 legs, the new one was white.

wow! nice shot! I remember my brother tarentuala was "shedding" it lyed on its back for 2 or 3 days, we all though it was dead, then all the sudden it "popped" up and was fine, with its "shell" left behind. amazing you caught it all on camera!

Thank you Andi :D

It didn't take that long, all that happened in a few minutes and it was out of the skin. Then it was hanging there for about half an hour and when we looked again it was gone (I guess it was the wind, cos we couldn't see it anywhere).

You are welcome. I saw already a couple times spider with one leg shorter and different colored than the other one, but never saw how it works until now :D

good thing it only took 30 minutes! 2-3 days would have been agony! :)

Wow - these are great - like a Nat Geo mini series. ;)

I really like the second one of part two. It looks like he's saying "ah!" while stretching out in his new, non-restrictive skin. :)

Ahhh, a molting spider... Thats something you dont see often, consider yourself luck to be able to see and photograph such an event.
