G3 Color Shifts...

A friend has a G3 on trial for a few weeks... I am more experienced so am running it through its paces... I really(!) want to like this camera BUT

1) it is not rendering color as accurately as my old Oly C-2020z... Turns skies cyan-ish, portraits in available light are overly red, pictures of buildings near by are not accurate... I have played with white balances but these really seen far, far from any of the review pics I see which all look great...

I am big on natural light skin tone accuracy... this again was quite reddish... I want this camera to work like the review pics....

And no one is talking about this but this... Could the CCD on this one be off... did we just get a lemon or is this inherent in the beast...

Now they are not vastly off but just enought to say.. oh, that's not what it looked like...

Again, no one seems to be talking to this issue in the reviews or in the review pics... everyone says how accurate the color renditions are... So...????

Oh I did try to use the neutral and low saturation settings to see if it would help and it was only marginal...

So...???

Please take a look at this test on Canon, Nikon and Sony. They all have different Red Tone considered the test environment is almost identical. Sorry, they do not have Olympus 5050 in this group.

Thanks... I see... but you would think it would be a larger topic of conversation if the skies were too cyan often, etc... again, don't see any of this stuff in the test shots online... don't think they were using UV filters or it would have been mentioned
